Launch state

Texas logistics: four launch markets on I-10, I-35 and I-45.

Energy, manufacturing and the busiest land border in North America. Three corridors tie the four launch cities together and lead south to Laredo.

What moves here

A triangle of cities and a border.

Dallas–Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and San Antonio form a triangle joined by I-35, I-45 and I-10. Most freight inside Texas moves along its sides, a day's drive or less from one corner to another.

The state is also the main road gateway between the United States and Mexico. Laredo, at the southern end of I-35, handles more truck crossings than any other point on the border. Pharr and El Paso are the state's other major crossings.

Good to know

What shippers here plan around.

  • The border sets the clock

Crossing times at Laredo change by day and by hour. A plan that leaves the border out of the schedule is not a plan.
  • Produce season in the Valley

Winter and spring imports through Pharr pull refrigerated trucks south, and capacity tightens across South Texas.
  • Weather at both ends

Hurricanes on the coast from June to November, and ice across North Texas a few days each winter. Either can stop a corridor.
  • Oversize and overweight

Project and energy freight often needs state permits and a planned route. Send dimensions and weight early.
